1 Day trip — Ouarzazat
This longer tour goes along the impressive High Atlas Mountain road, winding through picturesque valleys, numerous Berber villages, gem sellers and up to Tizi-n-Tichka, the highest mountain pass at 2,260 meters/7,415 feet…
Travelling south, beyond these impressive mountains that are covered with snow from November to April, a different semi-desert landscape emerges. Along the way to Ouarzazate you will see Kasbahs and small houses made of mud and straw dotting the river bank, contrasting sharply with the surrounding emerald coloured fields.
Ouarzazate, sitting on the edge of the Sahara, is a modern military town built by the French where we will visit the former home of Pacha Glaoui – the Taourirt Kasbah. After we will go to the ancient Ait Benhaddou Ksar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is also a famous movie location and a place for Atlas studies, making it one of our most interesting stops. If you would like to enjoy the scenery more leisurely, we recommend that this tour be taken over a 2 day period.
